Bishop Mark smallBack in mid-December Pope Francis announced a Jubilee of Mercy. In this recent short Vatican Radio interview, our Bishop, Mark O’Toole, talks about the Jubilee and what is happening and will be happening in our Diocese, to celebrate.

He begins by speaking about the opening of a Door of Mercy at the cathedral in Plymouth as a focal point for pilgrimage, and then goes on to encourage us to re-engage with the sacrament of reconciliation during Lent and throughout this special year.

One new initiative he discusses is called ’Night Fever’, an offer extended at churches in Plymouth and Exeter to Catholics and non-Catholics alike, to come into church, light a candle, and pray for a loved one, or a specific concern.

Finally he talks in a practical way, about how we can focus during the year upon the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy.
