At a well attended meeting on Wednesday 22 July, some 30 or so members of our parish community met to hear a presentation given by representatives of the Society of St Vincent de Paul.
The vision of the SVP… “which is inspired by Christ’s message to love our neighbour as ourselves, is for individuals and families who are in any form of need to have hope, together with a sense of dignity, worth, well being and peace of mind.”
After the presentation a lively discussion ensued, and it was clear that pastoral care is very much a live topic among us, and one in which people are keen to get involved.
We are now looking towards holding another meeting after the holiday period and the handover of the parish to Fr Mark. This will enable us to discuss our own aspirations in relation to the SVP with a view to forming a conference in the parish. In the meantime please pray for the success of the initiative and all involved.
