On Sunday 1 October, our prospective deacon, Anthony Carey, was ordained (along with three others) to the Permanent Diaconate, during an Ordination Mass held at the Cathedral Church of St Mary and St Boniface, Plymouth. It was a very moving ceremony, in a very full cathedral, and it was great to have Fr Mark and also Fr Jonathan, who was of course so instrumental in Anthony’s early formation, amongst many other priests of the Diocese in attendance.

Anthony’s family and also very many of our parishioners were there to provide support and watch as Anthony took this profound and significant step forward. Contemplating the gravity of the moment beforehand caused him to be, not apprehensive, but a little daunted by the prospect, however he went through the ceremony with great conviction and aplomb, and his smiling face afterwards spoke eloquently of his happiness and certitude!

Congratulations Anthony, your ordination is and will continue to be a great blessing for us all!
